Industrial threaded inserts with mechanical locking
Our threaded insert with locking keys, also known as a keylocking insert, combines high pull-out resistance with the possibility of replacement by the same model in case of wear.
The mechanical locking via keys prevents rotation and loosening under vibration, dynamic loads and thermal cycling.
Applications
• Thread reinforcement in hard or difficult-to-machine materials
• Repair of damaged threads in metals and castings
• Industrial assembly in machinery, automotive and construction
Technical specifications and types of threaded inserts
Our keylocking inserts are suitable for metric coarse, metric fine, UNJF and UNJC internal threads, and comply with industrial tolerances for reliable series assembly and maintenance.
Types and configurations
• Type: threaded insert with 2 or 4 locking keys (mechanically locked)
• Internal thread: metric ISO, UNJC, UNJF, with optional internal thread locking (via mechanical deformation)
• Size range: M5, M6, M8, M10, M12
• Wall thickness: thinwall design for limited wall thicknesses, also available in mini and heavy-duty versions
• Tolerances: compliant with industrial fits for installation using standard tapping tools
Materials
• Carbon steel C1215 with ZnPh surface treatment (corrosion-resistant, good installation properties)
• Stainless steel 303 for corrosion-resistant applications in humid or chemically aggressive environments
Standards and compatibility
• Compatible with metric ISO bolts as well as UNJC and UNJF fasteners
• Designed for installation with standard taps and slightly oversized drills (required to accommodate locking keys)
• Suitable for industrial quality standards in machine building and maintenance
Advantages for B2B and industrial applications
• Mechanical locking with 2 or 4 keys prevents loosening due to vibration
• Mechanical locking of the fastener prevents loosening during vibration or repeated disassembly
• Chip-free installation
• High pull-out and shear resistance for structural fastening
• Reliable solution for thread repair
• Fast installation using standard tools, no special machinery required
• Can be replaced by the same type after wear
• Widely used in OEM, maintenance and technical service applications
Installation instructions for threaded inserts with locking keys
Drill using an appropriate drill (non-standard diameter for this insert type) and apply a countersink of 82°–100°.
Tap the internal thread using a standard tap according to the specified size.
Screw in the insert until it is positioned 0.25–0.70 mm below the surface.
The locking keys position the insert at the correct depth.
Drive the keys down with a hammer using the recommended installation tool.
