Screw-in insert
Screw-in Thread Insert
High-quality threaded inserts for wood, metal & plastic
What is a screw-in insert and why use it?
Screw-in inserts are metal bushings with internal metric threads, designed to be screwed directly into wood, metal, or plastic. They provide a strong and durable anchoring point for screws or threaded rods, increasing the reliability and lifespan of assemblies.
Different types of inserts by material
At Juno Industries, we offer a wide range of screw-in inserts adapted to each application:
-
Stainless steel / corrosion-resistant inserts: perfect for outdoor or marine use.
-
Self-tapping inserts: featuring thread-cutting properties for easy installation in metal or plastic.
-
Wood inserts (hex drive, flanged, long type): ideal for wood applications, heavy loads, or limited installation space.
Installation process by material
In wood
-
Choose the right insert based on wood type, thickness, and load requirements.
-
Mark the drilling points.
-
Drill the hole to the correct diameter and depth.
-
Screw in the insert using the proper tool or hex key.
-
Test the stability with a screw.
-
Repeat for each insert.
In metal
Follow a similar process, ensuring correct drill size and chamfering (see the technical drawing). Use inserts designed for metal applications, so slotted self-tapping inserts for unhardened steel and thermoplastics. In aluminium, we advice you to use the self-tapping inserts with 3 cutting holes.
In plastic
Use inserts specifically designed for plastics, depending on whether the material is thermoplastic (then use slotted self-tapping inserts) or fiber-reinforced (then use self-tapping inserts with 3 cutting holes).
