Wood insert with hex and collar in die cast

Wood Zamak Insert – Screw-in Threaded Insert for Wood
What is a Zamak Insert?
A Zamak insert (also known as a screw-in wood insert with internal metric thread) is a cast-metal threaded insert designed to create a durable, reusable internal thread in wood. The conical exterior thread allows easy installation into a pre-drilled hole. It is suitable for M4 to M10 applications and requires no special tools — a standard Allen key is enough.
Zamak is a zinc-based alloy optimized for die-casting, making it ideal for precision parts like inserts.
Description
Recommended Use
• Thread sizes: M4 – M10
• Material: Zamak zinc alloy
• Conical, interrupted external thread for smooth insertion into wood
• Countersunk collar for clean finishing and proper seating
• Suitable for soft to medium-density woods, chipboard, MDF, composites
• Ideal for furniture and assembly applications requiring disassembly

What should I take into account when using an internal hex screw-in insert?
Be aware that the inner hexagon, although very practical for installation, does reduce the effective length of the internal thread. With short types or inserts made of zamak, this may result in a less wear-resistant or less strong metal threaded connection.
