The FLOAT-NUT from Specialinsert is a replaceable, self-locking, double-winged anchor nut designed for resins, composite materials, and other lightweight structures.
Thanks to its floating design, this nut automatically compensates for small misalignments during assembly, ensuring a strong and vibration-resistant fastening.

Technical Description

The Float-Nut consists of three main components:

  • Mounting plate: made of stainless steel AISI 316 L (1.4404) with a natural finish.

  • Bush (nut body): made of steel 1.0736 (AVZ) with Fe/Zn Ni 7 IV S coating for excellent corrosion protection.

  • Retaining ring: made of carbon steel, burnished for enhanced durability.

Assembly and Application

The Float-Nut is assembled by riveting and is ideal for use in composite or resin-reinforced materials requiring a reliable, easy-to-maintain fastening.
Its floating bush allows slight lateral movement to compensate for alignment tolerances.

Self-Locking System

The self-locking bush ensures a solid, vibration-proof fastening, even under dynamic conditions.

Note: the self-locking effect gradually decreases after repeated screwing and unscrewing cycles.
Use with stainless steel screws is not recommended to prevent galling.

Easy Maintenance and Replacement

One of the main advantages of the Float-Nut is that the bush can be replaced without damaging the mounting plate.

  • Remove the retaining ring to release the bush.

  • Insert a new bush and fit a new retaining ring in place.

Recommendation: replace the retaining ring each time the bush is changed. (Spare parts are not sold separately.)
